One more question on Amalfi coast. I think I will have 3 or 4 nights to spend exploring Amalfi Coast and was wondering whether its better to base yourself in one place and do day trips?
If so, which is better base Sorrento, Positiano or Ravello?

Thanks!

Off season (before mid-june) Sorrento, after that ravello. If in Sorrento go to Chaplins 'irish' bar after midnight. Some great and not so great restaurants there (look at the crowds). Great pizzeria on one of the back streets between chaplins and the sea. The drives on the amalfi are stunning, and while Positiano looks lovely, I didnt want to stay there, Ravello is more calming/sophis/etc. But for trips to Pompeii (by train) and Capri (by boat) Sorrento is great. Enjoy it!
We've done two trips to the Amalfi coast & I would confirm the previous that Sorrento is best as a base. Can't comment too much about bars etc. but the scenery is magnificent. If you're going with a holiday company, they usually have a complete trip arranged, taking in Positano (not stopping) & Ravello (stopping). We did that & also took the local bus as far as Positano. A tip - if you do go to Positano, make sure you take the local bus into the town because the steps are a killer!!! The other tip is to make sure you get on the left of the bus (looking to the rear) because that is the side that looks out over the sea. Have an enjoyable holiday.
