Hello, Can anyone help with suggestions for special places to stay for our 25th wedding anniversary. I would like to get a self catering place, but something abit different, say historical but not in a town or city. Alot of the historical places I can find seem to sleep several million people and cost a fortune, we just need it to sleep two or four people. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank-you

Try The Landmark Trust. They have some amazing places, but they are a bit pricey.

Good luck!

The National Trust also have lots of self catering cottages you can rent. See here

Many are historic old buildings, some on the estates of country houses.

Here is just one interesting NT building, there are others

Or this old lighthouse in Hunstanton on the North Norfolk coast.

Not sure where you live or where you want to go, but I went to Hunstanton for a week last summer and it was lovely. The whole of North Norfolk is quiet, and peaceful, beaches, bird watching, seals etc

The lighthouse is on top of cliffs just outside the town and faces west into the wash so you get AMAZING sunsets over the wash from the area.
