thank you jno,me silly, should have put middle june for a week, walking holiday.

well, you can never be sure of anything but you should get weather not too different from Britain at the same time. It will depend partly on the altitude; Bohinj is about 1850ft up. It's very pretty country - a bit like Switzerland, though more rural.

Of course it could be cold and wet - so could Britain. But you'll be taking an anorak or something anyway if you're on a walking holiday, I suppose. I think I'd wear basically what you'd wear for a similar holiday at home.

many thanks jno for your reply, got a very good idea of what it will be like, like home.??

it's a nice place - the towns are small and easy to get around. Ljubljana is very pretty and baroque; Piran on the coast is like a mini-Venice. But the countryside is not as prosperous as Britain; villages and farming settlements seem less modern and sophisticated. If you've got medicines to take, for instance, I wouldn't guarantee you'll always find them, so take your own. The scenery is attractive, and I found the people friendly; there's not a huge number of tourists.

one thing I should have added - it's been about 5 years since I was there; things may well have gone ahead since then. For a start, it's joined the EU. So it may no longer be quite as quiet as it was during my visit.

Hi jno, thank you for all the info and i am looking forward to going,as i shall be going to Austria a week after i come back, the rambling club i belong to think i shall either be worn out or full of beans ??could be interesting to see the different countryside.will let you know how i fare later in the year.
I went to Bohinj last April and it was hot. Yes it does depend on the altitude, but down at the lake level it'll be hot I would imagine. We were skiing at Bovec, but still hot when we got down to low level. Hope you enjoy your holiday. What are you going to do? I'd be interested to hear more about it.

Sorry to be late with a reply rabbitdrop but have been away on walking holiday again. Loved Bohinj last year, the weather was glorious, and it was a Walking Women hol.We did about 8 miles a day, very well organised, very good leaders, and I shall go again next year. I think it was the cleanest place I have ever seen, and as I had never been abroad before, amidst hilarity with 15 other well travelled ladies, a novice at 72 yrs old (in years but not brain). Loved every minute of it. Kind regards. reffgt
