If you could go to anywhere in the world, where would you go? My choice would be Egypt, for all that ancient history.

sft42 - hope you find your way home soon. It sounds like you miss it.
Back to Tierra del Fuego. Out of this world.
everywhere I have been has its good and bad points. South Africa's Cape Coast is the most beautiful place I have ever seen, but it is too violent. New Zealand's South Island is beautiful and safe, with lots of outdoor sports, but it is very much a 'make your own entertainment' place culturally, and a long distance from anywhere else. Switzerland is also beautiful, well run, great skiing and central to much of Europe, but incredibly rule-bound. Denmark has the most impressive social system and beautiful people I have seen, but the countryside is flat and I like mountaineering. The United States is much bigger than one might expect, with a lot of variety and beauty, but the society seems empty. I have never had a desire to see South America or India (except Kashmir which is having a civil war right now), but my grandmother was born in China, so I would love to go there and check it out. Closer to home, I would like to take my little Fiat on a 3 week trip from Britain back home to Italy, visiting Naples, Rome, Turin, and the Dolomites. However, when the sun shines on the Scottish Highlands, I don't feel the need to go anywhere.
sorry, I take that back. I would like to see Patagonia in South America. Also Siberia's Kamchatka Peninsula. So much world, so little holidays :)

looks like a bit of a Scottish thread ;) yes, I live in Glasgow. Travelling has mainly been visiting family, or through work. If I have a holiday, I travel round Scotland and take pictures for my website http://www.loveofscotland.com !
