Can anyone recommend a town in Morocco that would be a good place to chill out for 1 week in December? Ideally it would be a smaller town with some fun activities or day trips, and few hassles.

Sorry that this answer is too late for December this year - I hope you found a suitable place. I would recommend Mihrleft, on the coast between Tiznit to the north and Sidi Ifni to the south. Very chilled, explore the delicate scenery around, Tiznit is typical Moorish town, Sidi Ifni is haunted by the ghosts of the former Spanish colonialists. Good access to Atlas moountains, southern desert. Great little place.
