Does anybody know which is best to use ? Ours are from Spanish banks so when my daughter goes to London and is asked whether she wants the charge to be in sterling or €, which is best for her ? I think I read somewhere once that if you say €, they would apply their own exchange rate, which undoubtably would be a worse exchange than Visa or Mastercard would apply. Am I correct ?

Always insist on the local currency otherwise they can charge what they like.

Thanks Zebo, that's what I thought.
Get the local currency. There is a charge for anything else and you also get a worse rate! This was started by Santander the biggest rip off bank in the world!!
