where are the best bars and clubs in sydney ??? is there one particular street ??? im going to be there for new-years eve and want to book a hotel near the action ???

You need to be somewhere near the harbour bridge for New Year's Eve - fireworks, party atmosphere  etc etc, The Rocks is a stone's throw from there but you better get booking quick! Sorry I don't have any names of places, but put in a search for The Rocks, Sydney and you'll find something..

Agree with above... you don't wanna be stuck in a pub or club... everything happens outdoors around the Opera House & Harbour Bridge.

My friends were down the Rocks for NYE and said it was too packed.  I spent the evening over the water from the Rocks at Mrs Macquaries chair which has great views of the fireworks display. You can take your own food in but not your own booze, although we managed to sneek some in.
