Hi, I'm going to Miami in 2014 and need advice on where is the best place to stay please? Not so fussed for a suntan, so staying by a beach is not important. However, I do like to walk along the waterfront, harbours, etc. I realise there are many bits and have been looking at the Biscayne Bay area. Can anyone recommend any hotels? thankyou

the art deco district of South Miami Beach is well worth walking around, but an expensive place to stay, unfortunately. So are most places near to water (there are inland creeks and rivers around town and you can take boat trips on them). If you want to get out and about sightseeing you'll probably need a car; and if you've got a car, there are any amount of hotels...

Why not ask on the Miami forum on Trip Advisor?

That forum is manned by experts on Miami

Villa Paradiso 1415 Collins Ave.
Stayed there twice and loved it.
It is not one of the posh expensive hotels but has lovely big rooms, mostly with kitchens so that you don't have to eat out all the time. Didn't have a pool when we were there a few years ago, but is only one street back from the beach. Has great little garden, lush and quiet. Really recommend it if you want something a bit different.
Ps have a look at the comments on Tripadvisor. Almost all pretty positive.
