We are off to New York for the first time in a few weeks for 5 days and I want to book something or plan something special for my Husband to be. He is a geek at heart. Loves Star Wars, Comics, Computer Games etc... But is not a music fan at all. Besides the typical places and tourist haunts any suggestions for something I could arrange as a surprise whilst there, maybe something we couldn't do in the UK. I did think about Helicopter ride but after some digging this is no no.

Thanks guys

Thanks Andy
Sure.

Make sure you visit the 911 museum, but take some hankies with you!

That is one of the more important things on our list. I really want to seek out the less touristy bits to be honest. This holiday means a lot to both of us and I want to try and make it the trip of our lives if possible.
Do visit the Dakota Building, and have a stroll through the section of Central Park that is opposite, it's gorgeous.

Also, make sure you catch at least one off-Broadway show, you can usually get reasonable tickets.

If there is any returns, you must see Jersey Boys, it is fabulous!!!
Its not a special place or anything, but the Forbidden Planet shop on Broadway is a mecca for comic book geeks....
If you are there on a Sunday then the Sunday brunch in the revolving restaurant in the Marriott hotel in Times Square is pretty amazing. You won't need to eat the rest of the day!
Is there some kind of film tour connected with anything sci fi? I'm sure Ghostbusters was NY based but there must be loads others.

He may love big toy store, FAO Schwarz up by Central Park and there is an Apple shop right by there too.

I can recommend the top of the Rockerfella Centre at night for the view.
Some stuff here about places to go look for comic and sci fi stuff and computer games, not sure how current it is:

Thanks guys x
You MUST do the helicopter ride. It's amazing and then afterwards take a walk to Harry's bar in Lower Manhatten (about 10 mins) and have a few bevvies and a nice meal whilst rubing shoulders with the Wall St glitterati. It's not snobby or exclusive just really relaxing and friendly with a hint of sophistication.
