Easyjet To Do Online Check-In Only

Saw today that from 23rd April passengers will only be able to check-in online. They say that this will reduce queues at the desks, though of course passengers with suitcases will still have to queue at a bag-drop desk. Wonder how many people will be affected. (sorry can't give link for this - OH say it in an in-flight magazine).

Didn't see this when we booked our flight for May some weeks back - I'll check it out. I did notice they now say check-in bags are £30 each now - so we're only taking one.....
Pity, the queues for people handing in luggage, having checked in online, are usually much longer than those checking in at the airport! I can't understand how it's supposed to be quicker to checkin on line.
I've just checked my booking on our Easyjet account - we still have the option for both - either on-line or going to the desk 2 hours before the flight opens. Perhaps what OH read only applies to certain flights?
We only check in one suit case now seeing as its £3o a time.
We rinse things out if needed and we get on fine.

Hi Boxy - just re read the blurb which says:
'From 23rd April we will be changing our check-in methods meaning that check-in for ALL our flights must be done online prior to arriving at the airport, giving passengers the opportunity to save time at the airportby skipping the queues. The service is free and can be done from 30 days before you fly until 2 hours prior to departure....
Might be worth a call to customer services 0843 104 5000, or wait till nearer the time. They may email you with deatails. Hope it won't be a problem for you. Will save money, I guess.
I will look but on our booking it doesn't say that at all! We usually check our bags in at Gatwick the night before (if the facility's available) which make it much easier first thing in the morning.

Do they charge for checking-in at the airport? I know some airlines do. Thankfully we manage with hand-luggage only, but obviously many people need a suitcase, especially for a family.
Maybe they are saving money by not issuing boarding passes at bag drop?
