Does anyone know the easiest way for a 44 year old with no trade to get into Australia to work, if at all possible? I've been onto all the Ex-Pat sites and a lot of answers to questions asked are so contradictory it's impossible to know what's right and what isn't, any help would be appreciated, many thanks for taking the time out to read this post :-)

Unlike this country, which will take any person no matter if they have no trade or if they cant even speak English, Australia does have some controls over who works over there.

I think you will have problems with no trade.

See if you can get a 1 year working visa to start with (that is what my daughter and her boyfriend did).
And you need money in the bank. 3.5k I think.
A friend and her husband who was running his own electrical company emigrated to Australia about 18 months ago. She had been going through the process for several years, and it cost a lot of money, and eventually they were admitted. However, when they got there, her husband had to go back to "school" to learn and take and pass several exams before he was allowed to work there, and he eventually got a job where he was basically the odd job boy for a while. I would think knowing that, you would find it very difficult to get a job paying good money especially since they also have unemployment problems, and it is expensive to live there - my friend was really surprised at the cost of everything, especially food.

VHG,how old was your Daughter and B/F when they applied for their working Visa?
My daughter was 19 when she went to Oz. She was granted a 1 year working visa. Because she's been in consistent work since arriving she's been granted a second year visa. Not sure what happens next.
Although there are plenty of jobs in Oz and the money tends to be better than here, the cost of living is very high.
You won't get a 1 yr working visa at 44 years old - they are for "students/travellers" to be able to support themselves. I'd rate your chances of emigrating there with no in-demand work skills, and with your age against you, as less than a cat in hell, sorry.

If you have a trade/skill and it's in their in-demand list then there's more chance, but 44 is very old to be considered even with that going for you. Without an in-demand skill or tens of thousands to invest (and employ Australians with!) you're wasting your time, frankly.
