Any help from anyone who has applied for one of these much appreciated!

I've printed out the sample copy to peruse before I go ahead and do it online as apparently you cannot half fill it in then save and go back to it, so I want to be sure I have all relevent info to hand.

What is meant by citizenship/national ID No. ? Would that be N.I.number?

Two references are required, what sort of references are they after, family, friends, work colleagues?

TIA.

I filled my tourist visa applications online and was able to save them and return to them with no problems. You must take a note of the reference no your quoted at the start of the application.
we do not use ID cards in the UK so you would leave that blank.
I assume your using the link as below to start your application?

http://in.vfsglobal.c...nlineapplication.html

There are other websites posing to do your visa for you but vfs.global are the only ones accepted by Indian Embassy.
References are just people who have known you for some time. Just to make sure you are a bona fide applicant. I supplied references but they were never contacted.

Had to save my application a couple of times, to find out answers!!!
If it's a tourist visa enjoy your stay ☺
Just a thought.
If your going to submit your visa in person in London then I recommend you use the Clerkenwell office. The Victoria office gets packed solid with people.

Thanks for the reply, maybe the site has changed since you did yours,as they are now saying it cannot be saved then retrieved?
You've answered another query I was going to put though, which was "is it ok to just leave irrelevent fields blank?"
Also there seems to be a contradiction, VFS Global recommends you do not make any travel arrangements prior to visa approval, yet there is a box for the hotel address where you will be staying!
As far as I can see you can still save the visa details to complete later, an example follows, obviously do not use the number quoted because it will be invalid.

Yes, you need to quote where your staying ie Hotel full name and address, and their telephone no. I found the best way to do this was to email the hotel and ask for the details, they are quite used to this.

Obviously completing the application does not guarantee approval so they will obviously say VFS Global recommends you do not make any travel arrangements prior to visa approval just in case.
The link didn't work as intended, sorry. I was able to go there and you could definitely save the details when I just looked.

Thanks again, I definitely read somewhere that if you didn't complete the form in one go, you would have to start again, must have read it somewhere other than on VFS as I can't find it now! Good to know that isn't the case.
We will be staying at various hotels/guesthouses,in different cities, none of them are booked yet, presumably it would be ok to just put the details of the first place we intend staying?

I would say so, cannot remember if they showed the option for multiple stays.
