My wife and I have a 3 month career break planned over the Summer months. We have two kids (8 & 7) and instead of just lying on a beach somewhere, we would like to do something worthwhile. Trouble is, most of the volunteer agencies/sites (e.g. VSO, i2i, etc) don't cater for families. We remember a family on Holiday Swap who spent their holiday in an African village (think it was Kenya) helping out as much as they could. Anything like this would be good. Anyone know of where I can investigate things further?

Won't your children be missing school? Life education is all very well and good but academic achievement will be judged by their peers AND future employers. Will they have a job to enable them to take a career break. I think you are being very selfish, either wait until they're older or find someone to look after them while you are away.
