Can anyone recommend a place where we can go for a cheap Villa holiday? I've heard some of the Islands we were normally think of as rowdy like Ibiza have their quiet sides. We just want a week or so where we can relax and see some sunshine, but like everyone else, we have to watch the pennies. Thanks everyone.

Thanks Bobbisox. Sorry, should have said, we're looking for somewhere that's as lush and green as possible. I'm sure Lanzarote is lovely but it's not for us. Hubby writes and paints and wants somewhere to relax ... it's been a tough year :-) We work for ourselves and don't have children, so we are very flexible. We just want somewhere peaceful in a pretty setting for a few days in the sun. Thank you for your help.
Portugal?
We have stayed in a small fishing village there, very quaint and peaceful
Northern Tenerife is supposed to be very green but I think where it is very green you can expect rain, bizzy..

Fair point. Hubby's not the best flyer in the world, so maybe somewhere in Europe might be better. I suppose I wondered if anyone had stayed somewhere they could recommend. Mind you, hotels are discounting heavily at the minute aren't they. Maybe I'll just try the discount sites. But if anyone can recommend an area they've stayed in that would be great. Otherwise, no worries and thank you for your help Bobbisox.
no worries
Good Luck
I think the northern coasts of all the Canaries are cooler and damper than the southern ones, as that's the way the wind blows. Depending on the time, how about a lakes & mountains holiday in the Alps somewhere?
Just a thought. Every week in The Lady (ok I know) magazine there are lots of small ads for holiday lets and so forth all over the world, lots in Europe give it a try

Oooh that's a good idea Nungate. Clever old you. Thank you so much.
We stayed at the Old Village outside Vilamoura in Portugal and it was just beautiful, might be what you're after?
Try this website . . . http://www.ownersdirect.co.uk. You will need to do your own travel arrangements of course, but no doubt the owners will advise you.
Have you looked at the Balearics? Menorca is lovely and very quiet, northern Majorca is much less noisy than the southern resorts.
