If the Oven Inspector were to come round to check my oven I think I would get told could do better. It hurts my knees, that's my excuse, when trying to clean it. Wish I had a high level one as they're much easier to clean. And is it important to you to have a nice shiny oven?

mine is very clean - we are selling so everything is shiny. Usually not important at all

Mine is filthy and covered in a layer of dust and grime. My excuse is that my kitchen is in the process of being ripped out.

There is an old saying:
Good mothers have sticky floors, filthy ovens and happy kids
Could do better :-(
I'm in Mrs O's camp - great saying and obviously one I've been subscribing to all my life - I just didn't know it.!
Must admit, my oven is a bit manky! I don't think its ever been shiny except when I bought it. However, when I do clean it I can't seem to find any cleaner that takes all the grease off; and my sink isn't big enough to fit the shelves in to give them a proper soak. I'm jealous when I see a shiny oven!
Not too bad for a lazy so and so.

I bought a magic oven liner a few tears ago - they're brilliant.

I just pop it in with the washing up ever so often and its as good as new.
Mine is usually clean, but it is a really hard job for me to do, as I have two replacement knees and my oven is low to the ground with a separate grill above. Hate cleaning it, but equally don't like leaving it dirty. I always have a tray in the bottom, so I can take it out to clean. Makes it easier than trying to scrub things off the oven floor. But either way ... so not my favorite job!!
mines minging
on my list of jobs...whenever..lol
The cleaner hates cleaning the oven :-(
my oven has a pyroclean facility which is brilliant - it doesn't do the shelves but soaking them in Oven Pride brings them up like new
maidup -+I have liner too-brilliant we have a young girl locally steam cleans ovens-she is reasonably prioced too
Spotless, it's one job the Boss really hates in the kitchen so she delegates it to me and then goes over it with a fine tooth comb to make sure I've not missed anything

OK some of you are making me ashamed but it ain't that bad, honestly. Maid up tell more about your liner, like actual name and where you got it please, if you can remember. And does it just lie on the bottom of the oven? And thos, how much for steam cleaning an oven?
"Good mothers have sticky floors, filthy ovens and happy kids"
I Love that! I must be a great mum then!
i have never cleaned my oven. i have a wipeable oven liner sheet on the bottom which i take out occasionally and wipe over, but the rest of it has never seen a cloth of any description. i make no excuses for it, i just don't feel it's necessary to have a shiny inside to my oven.
My oven is filthy because I roast, not steam under cover. And my food is delicious.
And I feel the same as you ethandron. To be honest the older I get the more I realise that housework is a waste of time and energy. I would rather be doing productive things (like being on AB). I do clean the hob on the cooker and occasionally the glass door when I can't see through it.

My food tastes good from it and that is what I think is important.

Besides, if I get down on the floor to clean the oven I cannot get up again!!
And I must have been an extra super fantastic Mum then, with sticky floors and filthy ovens. Life really is too short......................
Vallaw Im with you mine too is filthy but my food is good. To be fair I have had about 4 ovens in the last 7 years due to moving house twice and replacing the oven already in the house with new ones because although I dont mind cooking in my own dirty oven I dont want to cook in one someone else has dirtied.
