Does anyone have any ideas what I could buy a female work friend, she's going traveling for 5 months to Asia & Oz with her OH and I would like to get her a small gift, does anyone have any suggestions, I don't know what she does & doesn't already have and I don't really want to ask her.

I bought one of those Electronic scales for weighing your luggage, for a friend of ours he was delighted with it and has used it ever since, it is very small and tucks nicely into your hand luggage
a travel diary?
I always travel with a little gadget called a Zanza Click, which is obtainable online or in Boots etc. for about £7. You hold it over a bite and click it a few times, and this disperses the histamine and soothes the bite. Tiny and very light, so perfect for travelling around.
Fly spray for the mozzies, (joke, although it works), a Dorling Kindersley guide book for one of the countries she is going to. They are fantastic. Tell you everything you need to know.
When we went to Asia for 4 months my daughter gave me an Emma Bridgewater travel diary before I set off. I loved it and filled it in as we travelled and it is now a lovely memento of my trip that I will be able to look back on in years to come.
A Swiss Army knife would be useful.
itunes voucher?
a memory stick for her camera so she can store all her photos. There are some really good ones nowadays that are shaped like all sorts of things. I have one shaped like a little suitcase.
You have some great ideas here already - when we went we also were given a journal, which was a great gift, we were given passports covers (not my kind of thing, but some people love them) and a couple of very small and funny books about travel emergencies / disasters but written tongue in cheek - they were very amusing when we were bored on a long train or bus journey. A travel game might also be useful (no small pieces though, otherwise they would get lost) and the itunes voucher is a great idea if they are taking an ipod.
