Hi all, I am taking my sisters 12-13 to tenby during the summer holidays and wondered other than Oakwood park if there was anything else worth visiting there, we are staying in walking distance of the town and will inevitable visit there, but wondered where else would be nice? Also does anyone know any nice but fairly cheap places to eat in or around Tenby. Many thanks, Roxie x

there's lots of places in tenby to eat. it's lovely, i'm sure you'll enjoy it particularly if the weather's good. saundersfoot it also very nice and not too far away. i'm really not sure what there is to visit in the area, it's mainly beaches and shops to wander round. it's been many years since we visited with kids so i'm a bit out of touch with what's there fore teens. you can get a boat trip to caldy island to visit the monks but i'm guessing that wouldn't really float their boat :)

Thanks Ethandron, I was thinking caldey island as this is an interest of my own, but yes would have to check with them! Ha. I think it may be a trial and error situation :) x
The Five Arches Tavern is generally well reviewed (and, apparently, both child friendly and fairly cheap!).

Hi Roxie, I love Tenby and find that it is really reasonalble - you don't feel at all ripped off (when they could easily fleece people). In Tenby itself there are two beaches off the main town centre, on the left is a very small beach but the cafe-thing (it's more of a kiosk) is really good value for toasties, etc in the day time. If you venture into Saundersfoot, there is a pub (painted a really horrible dark blue) on the front between the main road and the harbour - it looks a bit rough to be honest but its not, I had an absolutely lovely prawn salad there last summer and the kids and husband all had nice food too that didn't break the bank. The pub at Wisemans Bridge is a bit bistro but very nice if that's your thing and it is right on the beach (parking is a nightmare though). Have a lovely time.

Have spoken to a few people and a nice beach keeps popping up, it's called Barafundle bay, about half an hours drive from where I am staying so great stuff.

Hi everyone, I know this is an old thread, but thought I would update it as got back from Tenby last week. I found a lovely family pub called "the three mariners" and very decent price, 4 of us ate there and had a drink costing only £34.00, we found a lovely chip shop, can't remember what it was called, but it's on the one way system on the way to the multi-storey car-park. Visited Caldey Island and it was gorgeous! The chocolate and fudge is to die for! xx
