My partner & I are visiting the above in August, flying into Calgary and back out of Vancouver, touring by car.
Any tips on shortage of accomodation in the Rockies during the season, or any good motel chains etc., any info most welcome,
many thanks.

Hi,

Three good motels chains that spring to mind are;-

Quality Inn, Best Western and Days Inn. In fact to be honest with you I have never stayed at a bad one just stick to the big guys and you wont go wrong, when you are  travelling make sure you are booked into the next stay before heading off  as August is a very very busy month for vacations . If you are happy with the first Motel you stay at then set your destination for the next  and ask the guys at the first motel to book the motel (in the same chain) for you. Have a great vacation.
