how far in advance can you buy a train ticket?

We need to price a ticket for next august, but i can't find a site that gives this option. Do you think it would be the same as august this year? (with a little increase, obviously!)

You won't find a site - the fares for next August don't exist yet. Fares this August will be comparable - but allow for the annual increase, normally in January.

The cheapest (advance purchase) tickets can in theory be bought 12 weeks ahead - but it's often a lot less, particularly for weekends.
