I'm pretty sure any local roads will be permit holders only. There's bound to be a NCP car park nearby, but they're not cheap. Check their website for info.

I would suggest using the underground.
Assuming you can get into london by train, the tube journey will be easy, with trains every few minutes.
in a particularly helpful mood tonight.

You can get a train from Cheltenham to London (Paddington) - it takes just over 2 hours.
from Paddington to Kensington on the circle line will take 10mins, although you may have to wait up to 10 mins for a train that early in the morning.
If you leave at 5:30 you'd be at Padd at 7:50, and Kensington for 08:15. Time for a coffee etc.
There's another train a bit later, but it might cut it a bit fine.
The trains a better option than driving and trying to park in a strange town, with congestion charges etc. You could also relax and revise etc on the train.
I got the info from National Rails Journey Planner page online.
Good Luck.
If you need to be there by 0900 then you really need to travel on the Sunday evening and spend the night in London.

If you want something cheaper than the train, get the National Express or even Megabus all the way from Cheltenham to London - it will be a lot easier and cheaper than driving. National Express have a stop at Earls Court (plenty of cheap hotels) which is one stop on the tube from Kensington High Street.

Alternatively drive to Thornhill Park and Ride (on the A40 just the far side of Oxford from Cheltenham) and get the Oxford Tube coach service for 12 return. Parking is free though reputedly not that secure overnight..

there is a car park on ken high street but as everyone said very expensive and London and all roads into it are a nightmare in the morning - i live here and would definitely take tube at that time
marryme you asked this question on the 13/4 and then again on the 25/4 and it was answered extremely thoroughly on both occasions. Now you are asking again on 11/5. Are you just having a game with the people on the Answerbank?
