I have to spend some time in Liverpool and wondered if anyone had stayed at the Formule 1 hotel? I know where it is and the location is convenient but it does seem very cheap. What do you get for your money?

If it's anything like the one I stayed at in Auckland it should be fab! I had a TV, stereo system, fridge, microwave, cook tops, ensuite and double bed all for NZ$50. Sorry I can't really help with the one in Liverpool!
It may vary but usually a room with a double bed, bunk bed, washbasin and telly. Clean and modern, functional, zero frills (eg no carpet). No room keys (tap in a code for entry).

You can buy a mediocre buffet breakfast and there may be vending machines selling snacks and drinks.
Would have to agree with dzug. I know people who have stayed there and that was the description they gave (although it was a few years ago but doubt it has changed much)
Ive staid in a formule 1 in france, its ok for one night if you dont mind sleeping in what feels like a shoe box, they dont have en suite facilitites you have to go down the corridor to use the toilet and that too are small. Breakfast is a help yourself to rolls and cereals etc though breakfasts might be different in an english formule1. Id recomend a campanile, i believe theres one at albert docks in liverpool, ive only been in the one in birmingham but have staid in many in france and they have a restaurant that serves reasonably good food, the rooms are not huge but are bigger than a formule1 plus you have en suite. Hows the gorgous george by the way.
If you are interested in the campanile (ive just dug their booklet out) the web site is www.campanile.com and the liverpool one is queens docks not albert sorry,
Yes, these hotels are entirely modular and every room in any of them looks entirely identical. Yes, the toilets and showers are not en-suite but they are clean and I find them a fascinating example of efficiency in the way they self-clean - to me they are perfectly adequate. I find the beds more comfortable than at some bigger and more expensive hotels. For a night or two's stay, I think Formule 1 hotels are just fine and offer the best value for money of any chain around. The breakfast on the continent is fully acceptable - I can't speak for the UK branches.

Thanks to all of you. I couldn't stay anywhere that wasn't en-suite so that's that. I never thought it would be anything else. That explains why it's so cheap. I suppose you get what you pay for.
Theres also an ibis hotel and a premier travel inn in the albert docks area, not as cheap as a formule1 but will have en suite, i like you like to have my own bath room, when we staid at a formule1 it was a case of we needed a bed for the night and everywhere else was fully booked, we got the last room.....
