If you mean a standard driving license for a car, this only entitles you to ride a moped, that is a motorcycle up to 50cc and max speed 50kh. You need to take Compulsory Basic Training to use a larger bike on the road and then another test within 3 years for a full license. There is info on the dvla page, but it is very vague on many points: http://www.dvla.gov.uk/drivers/drivers.htm
