Referring to 'the broads'

the Norfolk Broards as it is a place name and you wouldn't say The Thames Estuary but the Thames Estuary or the Lake District not The Lake District, unless the The was at the start of a sentence of course.

I refuse to call them the Norfolk Broads when part of it (my part!) is in Suffolk!

I'm not though, everyone knows the broads are partly in Suffolk, aren't they trying to move the county borders though?

I knew there wer plans for Lowestoft to become Norfolk but what about the rest of Waveney like Beccles, that's partly on the river, if that stays in Suffolk god knows which county I'd be in . . .

Actually I never knew part of the (Norfolk) Broads was in Suffolk but I'm not everyone. I've only ever heard of the Norfolk Broads - presumably they are superior? ;-)
