Dell is one of the leading computer supplies in the world. It develops, sells and supports computers and related products and services. Dell continues to drive standards and remove costs in desktop technology, laptops, monitors and accessories. Dell products such as Inspiron and Precision are available through its website and over the phone.

Dell was founded in 1984 by Michael Dell, while still a student. The concept of the business was to cut out the middle man by selling computer systems directly to customers. By offering risk-free returns and next-day, at-home product assistance, Dell established the customer experience as a company cornerstone.

The idea of customers building their own computers and then having them delivered direct was innovative in the industry at the time. They were able to offer lower retail prices to customers and with their comprehensive customer service were soon competing with the big names.

Dell's manufacturing process covers assembly, software installation, functional testing (including "burn-in"), and quality control. Dell has a general policy of manufacturing its products close to its customers. This also allows for implementing a just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing approach.

The company now has a recycling system. This enables customers to recycle or donate to charity computer equipment from any manufacturer.
