What is the best (ie the easiest, half-ar$ed) way to clean the oven and the shelves. Haven't got space for my dish washer here so looking for other solutions. Thanks.

True, ladybirder - they do an amazing job, but it is quite a lot of money! Worth it for a once in a while thorough clean, but if you cook a lot, you probably need to do it more regularly...

Er - are you supposed to...?
I've always used Mr Muscle oven cleaner - it's ok, but I'm sure there are better things... it's not too taxing if you use that though...

That's why I asking, this is alien territory to me but it is filthy as I have to use the oven to cook everything as the grill doesn't work (the cooker is generally useless).
If I had to, I use elbow grease and a Brillo pad, but I proper-cook rarely these days. (Who am I kidding? I never have.)
you could try that one where you put the shelves in the bag of solution, and scrub the oven with the rest of the solution - Oven mate or something it's called.

Thanks Mummyh - I will have a look into that (and see if Asda can bring it with the shopping on Monday).
I use oven spray while oven is warm & wipe off. The shelves are soaked in hot sink & wiped off.

Truth is.....my cleaner does it :)
if asda don't sell it, I saw it in Poundstretcher the other day - wasn't a pound though!
Call out the oven-cleaning people.

Had thought about that lady birder - seemed a bit extravagant seeing as I don't work.
Oven Pride is very good but be careful that the bag doesn't leak onto work surfaces.

Get the kids to do it, while away a rainy afternoon with a Brillo.
I thoroughly recommend oven pride.

I got mine at Aldi and it was half the price that Tesco are charging.
Oven clean do a great job costs about £50 results are good.
I agree with Blackie. I've used Oven Pride and it does an excellent job. Be careful not to spill it though.
Thank you, Mrs Chappie. Was beginning to think I was invisible as no-one seems to respond to me, boo hoo!!
Oven cleaning is the absolute worst job in the world. Mine is about due to be done again, I just use hot soapy water and a steel wool on the shelves and cif or a brillo around the top and sides.
Life's too short, Gran, as you should know.
Funnygirl's tried it too. It's fab stuff. Unfortunately I spilled some on my worktop and bu88ered it good and proper. My own fault so being careless. :o(
