Please explain what you mean by 'quite large'
Type it into word and adjust the size.

You can type in a size much larger than the ones you can select in the font size drop down menu, just click on the size box and type the number you want

A size of about 600 - 800 will get you one letter on a page of A4
If you are using MS Word just type the letter you want, select it then select the point size drop down and enter the size you want. You are not limited to the choices in the list, you can enter anything you want.
Also something I found out by accident is that you can type decimal values for point size eg 9.5 and it will accept this. Doesn't appear to recognise any other decimal part though.

thanks scotman, cant seem to do it, thick maybe !
I have Word 2003 and the above works fine for me.

Type the letter you want then select it. Highlight the size drop-down box in the formatting toolbar and type in the size you want. If you type an upper case letter then a size of about 600 will give a good start point.
At what point isn't it working, gina32?
Type a single letter in Word using font size 10.
Highlight the letter. Change the font size to 48 (by selecting Home, then change the number). Does that make it bigger?
If so then just select Home again and overtype the 48 by typing something like 250.
Does that work?
word of warning when changing the font to sizes not in the drop down list - do not have the drop down list dropped down otherwise it won't work ..... just click in the box which says the default size (11 or 12 ) and type in what you want then it'll work
