My wife bought a Dell laptop some nine months ago and removed the multicoloured sticker containing The Certificate Of Authenticity (COA) this contain the product key code. Every time my wife( who knows very little about computers) enters into microsoft office, they ask her to register product key code which might be required to complete the operating system setup

A few options there ^^^ given the limited information supplied.
The COA relates to whatever Windows O/S the laptops got.

Microsoft Office is not your O/S. You probably got a 'free' trial of the program installed on the laptop. Your 'free' trial is finished, you will now need to go and buy a product key from Microsoft to continue using it.
OS is your operating system (Windows XP,Vista or 7) The Microsoft Office is a separate program that runs in your OS. They don't use the same product key. You will need to pay for a key for your microsoft office program. You can try the microsoft website to find out more. You could have a trial version that has run out and now need to now buy a product key.If you did have the full product you will find the key on the disc case it came in when you got it or with the computer documents when you bought it.
Download and run Belarc Advisor it will search your computer and list all the information you require that includes all of your product keys it is a free program
