I have bought a new laptop and my friend would like my old pc. Is there a way I can get rid of all personal info on the disk. Not worried about my friend, but others may use it.
Thank you

just delete them and empty your recycle bin i wouldn't think your friends going to download a programme that "may" retrieve them, and there not very successful at doing this unless you pay for the prog
i wouldn't bother worrying unless your friends a bit dodgy
Reformat your hard drive and use a 'secure deletion' program.

Do a clean/fresh install of the OS if you have the original discs and are that bothered about any of your personal information still being on it...
the only other way is to format the disk then you loose the lot your operating system too
or if your that worried remove the hard drive and belt it with a sledge hammer thats the only real way to make it 100 % safe
His friend won't be too happy about that though.

Ok thanks. As I said wasn't worried about my friend, but just being careful. She is like me and wouldnt have a clue how to retrieve anything anyway.
