i-CAN Freeview + HD Set Top Box Model 2851T

This can connect to a home broadand network with an ethernet cable but the manual says if that's not practical there are other ways, contact your ISP provider. Before I do has anyone any ideas. The box has a USB port but its only for upgrades via usb dongle

If you need to contact your ISP, then it must need to be 'online', no?

I'm guessing something like the BBC iPlayer is useable on it.
