my school insists on filter non-educational sites. i figure that since i've reached yr13 with an armful of GCSEs & ASs i can judge whether or not i should be wasting my time in places (such as here)

and so, i need an anonymous browser. i've tried a few, but hate having to log in every single time i visit a different page whilst posting on a forum, also hate silentsurf because it puts huge signs over every picture which is damn annoying

does anyone know a good, free one? (apart from guardster, they blocked that - oh the irony!)

There's no such thing as totally annonymous browser. And anyway I don't think that's what you're asking for as such. You want to be able to surf the net without your school telling you what you can look at or not. If the school have placed software restrictions on their school computers, it's basically because you're 13yrs old and you are at school, (where I might add you should be studying - not looking at this website anyway). You'll just have to live with it as they can't trust that someone of age may or may not stumble across porn images. You'll be older soon enough so don't worry.

If magicdice has AS's he must be 17.  Technically old enough to go out and work for a living or join the army/marry with parental consent.

Did you try bypassing the proxy server? This may not work if they have a properly configured firewall, but its worth a try.

Stick the site address you want to access into the "do not use proxy server for addresses beginning with" section under Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Lan Settings > Advanced.

Otherwise, sorry but you'll have to go to the local internet cafe at lunchtimes/after school!

Keyser, are you aware that you have impostors on this site going also under the name of 'Roger Kint' and Dean Keaton?

i'm in YEAR 13 i.e. 17 years old, and also a she

tried screwing with the internet options

and i'm fine with the fact that they screen things, but some of the stuff they screen is completely harmless, even educational in many cases (another reason that this will benefit the world - i'll be able to do research for my french oral. one of my linking topics is la toxicomanie i.e. drug abuse, which i can't access despite repeated complaints)

Sorry magic - I meant "he" in the general sense rather than assuming you're a chap. No offence meant.

If you need to access sites that the school has forbidden perhaps they could set up a separate dial up PC for your use in one of the offices. You might get more support from the techies if your tutor is behind you - have you spoken to the tutor and asked them to get that site enabled?
