Online telephone directory

I am sure that in the past I have managed to obtain telephone numbers free online, but have tried to find someones number today and failed. Does anyone know if this is still possible? Mind you his email is an ntl address so perhaps thats the problem. Any ideas anyone?

If you know his name and address, and the number isn't ex-directory, why not use the BT website ?

I did use the BT online directory without success so perhaps he is ex directory. I wondered if it was because he was with Virgin. Thank you both anyway.

The BT Phone Book covers all generally available phone numbers (whatever the provider) but of course would not list Ex Directory Numbers.

Thanks for the link Invictas. Just for the heck of it I looked for my own number. I'm not ex directory, but I'm not there. Mind you, my friends keep telling me that all the time:))
