i bet someone says 'there's only one way to find out' ........
I have always gone for the Lexmark because I like the fact it talks to you ("Printer started"... little things lol) Having said that I have just bought a HP photosmart printer as needed a wireless one and it is brilliant! Doesn't talk tho..... sorry doesn't answer your question, I guess the best out of the 2 is to work out which has the cheapest cartridges and how long they last and which one prints the best (quality, quantity etc.)
I would go for HP .. They are easier to 'fiddle' when the service light .. etc comes on. And they are easier to use with aftermarket inks ... generally.
if you have both I can not see a reason to ask.
I had a lexmark years ago and it was rubbish. My last two printers have been HP, no problems with either of them.
Toss a coin - heads it's the Lexmark for the chop.
In future buy a Canon, I have a Pixma 220 for only £49.99 from Argos and never have problems with it.
If the printers are so identical in operation why not sell the one that takes the dearest cartridges???

well i havent used one in years and the other is new (to me anyway)

so i dont know if they are same...what i mean is they both appear similar at face value but i dont know the ins and outs of what 'extras' or benefits each has over the other.

i have another better one but i am keeping a smaller one for a spare and to take to work if need be
We've got Lexmark and I am very pleased with it, print quality is good even if the cartridges are a little more expensive.
I agree with Wak.

If you have a printer that needs another of those huge £30 cartridges every time you run out of one colour then get rid of that. I've got an Epson which has single colour cartrides and each one is less than £2 each (on-line). I just snap a new one in when a colour gets low. It's much more convenient and cheaper than my old HP970 which took the big cartridges.
