Any help appreciated.

An American DVD (Region One) can it be played in Ireland/Europe on Apple Mac (operating system 10.4) and/or in compact disc player - Samsung model DVD 511.

anyone shed any light on this?

Anyone else having problems with Virgin 50mb broadband?

on the mac you need to change the region from Europe to USA. You can only do this a few times before it stays at the last change. 5 times I think. I suspect most of that is true about the DVD player. It might be worth getting an inexpensive player and set it up for American regions rather than playing around with the optical drives you have for Europe

You don't need all that hassle.
There is an unlocker available that has been in use for years.
Clears the Optical Drives Region lock.
