Although I am able to insert the degrees symbol into text, it doesn't appear when I print the document. Can anyone help please? Thanks.

it should print fine if you are using the correct symbol.

Try copying and pasting the one below.

Where do you find a list of all the symbols, naz? I have just posted on a new thread, I am looking for the -en symbol.
How very windows :)

alt-gr + shift + m for me ºººº

Nothing happens when I type Alt+0176?
it needs to be typed on the number pad to the right of the keyboard, it won't work if you use the numbers along the top of the keyboard.
Hold the Alt key down

type 0176 on the keypad, not they keys along the top of the kybd.

Sorry, I'm assuming you're NOT on a laptop.
thanks Chuck, I'll save that - thanks also to naz for the directions on the desktop to the symbols list.

Yep it works :-)

Ah - it does now I have number lock off and prints too . Why doesn't it print when I use my shortcut key CTRL+8?
Ctrl + P

Haha! The document prints but not the degree sign when I use my shortcut key.
ctrl + 8 isn't a standard shortcut for anything (except I think it might switch to the 8th tab in IE if you have 8 or more open)

It certainly wouldn't be giving you a degree symbol unless you have some software installed that is making it act like that, and if that's the case without knowing what software then it's not possible to say why it's not working.
What font are you using?
Question Author
Times New Roman 12
Question Author
Chuck - I've been using that as my shortcut key for years with no problem but I've recently got a new computer and strangely couldn't find the degrees sign in the symbols box. After a bit of googling I found a site and was able to re-assign that shortcut key but only just discovered this morning that it doesn't show up on printing, grr.
What program are you using?
I've just tried Alt 0176 on the keyboard to the right of my laptop and nothing happened at all. What am I doing wrong?
you need numlock turned on, Chrissa...

Medec...

I'd guess you've set the shortcut (using whatever software you've found) to be a non printable version of the degree sign, try reassigning it to the one you get by using the alt code.
