Hi,
Just back from holiday & want to send a 7 min video clip to the rest of the group who went, will be about 20 e-mail addresses.

I'm using OE6 on XP, the file's a .avi, 107MB. It keeps failing saying there's not enough memory. I've shut everything else down, what can I do ? Can I compress the file (I don't what apps / software the other people have got on their PCs).

Cheers ...

You'll have to divide it up into small sections and send them all separately.
I'm not sure what the limitations are on attachment size with OE.
Another option - if it's not too private - could be uploading it to Youtube.

Thanks, Answerprancer. Wouldn't know how to divide it, and not keen on uploading to youtube ... there could be more that would be more private.

Other suggestions would be appreciated, otherwise will have to be youtube ... :o(
Upload it to a free file hosting website; there are many - here is one...

http://www.filefactory.com/

They are less public than YouTube type sites inasmuch as a video file is not viewable directly from the site therefore a person would need to find the link address and then download the file before knowing what it contains.

For further security you could compress the video (WinZip, WinRAR or alternative) and password protect the file before uploading. You then email the link address and the password to the selected recipients.
Mailing large files to people is a VERY bad idea.

Not only can it take ages for it to go FROM your email system, but for those maybe on slow broadband it will take forever to download, and may even fill up their email allowance.

Also if you mail it to each of them then it means there are 20 copies of the same file (bad idea).

Putting it on a server like YouTube means there is only one copy, and 20 or more people can look at the one copy.
http://www.yousendit.com can also help you email large files. However, if you were sending me a video which was 107Mb and would take an age for me to download, I wouldn't be too happy with you.

Thanks all. Think finding a hosting site's the way to go. Tried filefactory but couldn't actually view the video, just previews, no link to send anyone so I'll keep looking.
try memeosend

Thanks wendyl. I took on board what other people had said & decided to go with just hosting the videos, on Facebook (I changed the privacy so all can see), & on yourfilelink for those not on Facebook (tho' they take AGES to upload !).
