It appears the general public be extra vigilant due to the increased threat from Irish-related terrorism, even though the threat is still lower than the overall threat level to the UK from international terrorism.

If Irish related terrorism does take place, shouldn't all those terrorists released from gaol under the 'Good Friday Agreement' be returned to prison?

No. A number of those released now work to try and keep the peace here in NI.
The article doesn't say who the attack is likely to come from. I presume splinter groups so no, those released shouldn't be returned.

Not that I really agreed they should have been released in the first place...

If you start chucking people back into prison who were released under terms of the agreement all you'll do AOG is create a further power vacuum and get the men who are now trying to work for peace right out of the picture so the next generation of psychos can take over- does that sound like a great idea?
A very different group AOG - but then you know that.

Very different group maybe, but once a bomber always a bomber.

Do you really think that those ex-prisoners now think, let bygones be bygones, the English are now the good guys?
I think most people who have had any hands on experience of living in the north of Ireland fully appreciate that they are better off now than they have ever been in terms of peace. I realy don't care anymore at what cost that peace is kept as long as it is. If that involves me dealing with people who are historically unpalettable to me on any side then so be it- you can't look to the past in Ireland, that's where all the trouble lies, you have to look to the future so I really don't give a chuff what anyone thinks as long as they all work for peace. Return these guys to prison and you'll also return the bad old days. Leave em out and they stand half a chance of controlling MOST of theire respective people- you'll always get a few loose cannons but the way to deal with that is not to return people who are generally doing a good job and maintianing the status quo to rpison.
