With special regard to an audio book, does an MP3-CD mean that the whole book is on the MP3-CD, but will I be stuck to my computer if I want to listen to it?...it won't play on an ordinary CD player???is that right? Ta Muchly.

Yes ... It's made as a data disc usually (which won't play in a regular cd player .. although cheap "play anything" dvd players would maybe play them.
You have to rip the tracks to the HDD and then burn to an audio cd.
