If I purchase a mobile phone with Sat Nav app installed i.e. Nokia 5230 and use the sat nav, does my credit decrease ?. Any help for a poor old technophobe/ luddite.

if you have already downloaded the maps and have them stored on the phone then no, If you have not already downloaded the maps then yes...

Also, that phone has two GPS modes, normal GPS and assisted GPS. if you use assisted GPS you will also be downloading information while using it.
