internet explorer blue 'e'

I'm new to xp & i've noticed there's no blue 'e' to load internet explorer. I have to go to file & new window to open an extra page, & i can only open 2 pages max.  Is there any way i can get the blue 'e' on my desktop as I can't even find it in the internet explorer folder.

Go to the Start Menu and then All Programs.  Find the internet explorer icon in the list and right click on it.  Select Create Shortcut.  This will create a shortcut icon at the end of the program list.  Cut/Paste or drag the shortcut to the desktop.

No it's not in the start menu & if i click start - all programs it's not there either.  there is an internet explorer folder in programs on windows explorer but it just contains connection wizzard (which i've tried running) & plugins etc. there is no blue 'e' to be found anywhere.

Right click Taskbar > click Properties > Start Menu tab

ensure Start Menu button selected > Customize

in General tab see what is selected in Show on Start Menu box...  there should be entries for  Internet  (showing Internet Explorer)  &  E-mail

Once selected (& confirmed) IE will be placed in the Start Menu.  Just drag the icon onto Desktop.

Open either Windows Explorer or any browser and paste this into it:
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer

In there, right click on the file "iexplore.exe" and (as mentioned) choose Create Shortcut. Cut and Paste this shortcut onto your desktop and, if you feel like it, rename it.

If you right click on the shortcut on your desktop and choose Properties, you can also set the window that opens to be maximised and tinker about with that too.

p.s kempie, I'm not sure that there's such a thing as Internet Explorer not being installed on a Windows machine! ;-)

p.p.s You're better off using a different browser anyway - try Mozilla Firefox.

If you drag an icon you will not get the full IE desktop icon. In XP you need to do what is shown in this article:

Ignore my last post!! This is how you do it: Right click desktop and select 'properties'. Select the 'Desktop' tab, then click the 'Customize Desktop' button.
Select the [General] tab and make sure 'Internet Explorer' has a tick.

I was making a joke. I don't think it's even possible to uninstall IE unless you're a bit of a techie guru.
