I installed windows 7 on my laptop and everything seems ok. I tried the internet using a cable straight from my main computer. That worked ok but when I disconnected it, the laptop said it could not connect to the internet. Any ideas?

Do you have a wireless network, and have you connected to it? (i.e. entered the network key for it)

yes chuck, and I used the network key starting with 192..... but it keeps on asking me for it again and again.
That doesn't sound like a network key, that's the beginning of the IP address you'd use to access the admin pages of the router.

Try typing that number into the address bar of a browser (when connected by cable)

It says "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 192.168.0.6"

I forgot to say it is a Network Security Key they are asking for.
Check for a key on a sticker anywhere on the router, of you can't find one what make of router is it?

Brilliant Chuck!.... NOW how do I sort out Exmarks for both computer bookmarks. I did not do that myself previously so I don.t know the ins and outs of it. Thanks

Thanks chuck I managed to do that ok. Everything is working fine. What do you think of windows 7? It was/is taking a bit of time to sort out programmes etc. I use xp for my main computer so I can see the difference between the two. Thanks again
