Oh sorry to sound thick guys but i have a 7.1 MP camera ive not used for a couple of years. The number of Pictures it takes on its own is pretty rubbish. Im thinking of getting either a 4 or 6 GB memory card- Does it matter what brand i get ? i.e. sandisk / samsung / PNY / TDK?
again sorry if this sounds really stupid.
Id appreciate your help
Thanks

Nope doesn't really matter, they will all do the same thing.

BTW, a 6Gb card would hold getting on toward 2000 pictures! do you really need one that big. a 2GB would hold about 650

Thanks for that! I didnt realise a 6 GB card would hold that many! Nah 650 should be more than suffice. The cards do vary in price quite a lot. I guess i foolishly saw 2 GB cards for like under a tenner and thought that they mustnt hold very many photos.
Jesus i am sounding like a technophobe! lol im not but even buying the camera was on a whim, now time to actually use it on holiday!
Thanks for your advice CF

Plus, the internal memory must be rubbish then if a card that small and cheap would hold so many images!
just a thought.
A 2GB card is 2048MB, Your camera has 16MB memory built into it, so yes pretty poor :)
Some older devices can not cope with multi gigabyte cards, I had to upgrade my card reader. Better check what your camera can take.
This may not matter with your current camera but SD cards also vary in read/write speeds. One reason why some are more expensive. When using a camera which produces very large image files you should use a fast card so that each picture saves quickly. Look for a 4 or 2 inside a C on the card or packet. They probably go higher but 2 would be fine for your current camera.
The most important thing AFAIC is a) what's the biggest card your camera can take b) DONT buy it from Argos/Jessops/Maplins etc. CEX will do SD cards about as cheap as online places - and there is no delivery charge to consider
