Choosing where to locate Adsense in blogger

Hi, I'm making a blogger template in photoshop (attempting to) I know you can choose to have your adsense adverts either under your posts or in your sidebar, but can you actually choose where in the sidebar it appears? i.e. dedicate a specific 'gadget box' type location for the adverts? I haven't signed up for adsense yet, but I'd like to and want to design my blog layout with that in mind.
