'un-friending' someone on facebook

ok I have people as friends on facebook who quite frankly I must have been mad or three sheets to the wind to except...however I am a nice person and the thought of me 'un-friending' them to be announced to them like some 'event' would be more than embarrassing.

Does anyone know what happens to the un-friended does it go unannounced and therefore easly missed or is a huge bullet point made of the 'by the way you friend from years ago hates you enough the un-friend you' situation

Any help on this would be great thanks

it tends to go unnoticed by the person who you are deleting, just go into your profile and delete them if you want to delete them.
you just disapear of their friend list, they may not even notice if they have lots of "friends" if they are in the habit onf contacting you reg they will prob notice and may get in touch to find out why - in which case block them as well
They don't get informed in any way, if they notice there amount of friends has dropped by one they would have to look through all their friends and try and spot which is missing.

ahh not as bad as one thought then ...may the deleting commence

Thanks for the help guys.
always embarrasing when you mention it to them like I did with a user on here, I didnt mention it to make her feel guilty, I just mentioned it as a fact (she had told me I was friends with her on FB) she then pretended it was a mistake and re made friends with me then after a while sneakily deleted me again....
Cazzz - i want to know who now ?????? you've brought out the nosey in me lol
