When people post links to old AB questions and you open it in a new window the 'latest posts' box on the right shows the current one, that's interesting don't you think and why is that?

Very very ..... very Interesting Purdie : )
So, you have had dinner and have a few minutes befor Emmerdale starts?
It doen't do that for me ... Latest post box shows same on all.

have you understood me? If you link a post from say last month and open it up then then it appears as a completely new page but the latets posts box is what it is now not what it was then. I think that's interesting.
I don't watch Emmerdale :~)
The "Latest Posts" always shows the current threads even when you are looking at questions from years ago - otherwise they would be "Old Posts".
Yes .. I understand. I tried it using that new Camellia thread and my old one.
Just the way the web page is built. Latest posts is continually refreshed .. Like a separate part. Will always be up to date whatever.
£100 for a piece of bare sawn European Oak for a 6ft lintel I am just fitting.. Machined up and fitting at the moment. Ridiculous price, good timber these days.

I understand that but what I'm trying to say is you open a link to an old question, it opens up a page about 2/3 of the screen with the current page behind it. I can see the current latest posts and also again behind it. I give up trying to explain myself.I think it's clever and weird anyway.

Thank heavens Albags! Is this place you're doing up to your design or are you being told what they want, the oak lintel etc
Ah! OK. Is this openeing another TAB in the current window ?
or another window?
If another window, it is resized incorrectly. Try first dragging that reduced screen out to the edges, and then closing it holding the Ctrl + Shift key and closing. Check it again.
I have an artistic and sympathetic flair for old buildings. In fact, I have soooo much work now .. I only pick work on old ones : )
So I suggest, they nod .. and leave to me.
My family were wheelwrights (making wheels, not inventing the wheel) then builders from around 1700 .. so there is something in the blood.

It opens a new window not Tab, I can maximise it but it isn't needed just to see the questions/answers. What is fun is I can drag it round the screen looking at something from months ago but the latest post refreshes and appears just as the current one.

That must be quite satisfying if you don't find it boring but how come then you chose the RAF rather than building trade?
Because I am a typical tecky engineer, too! Engines ..Electronics .. RAF offered a complete career. Building at the time was not the best of professions to be in. It was all concrete and magnolia in the late 70's!

and avocado bathroom suites and cork floor tiles and polystyrene ceiling tiles for a quick fix!

If you started out in the late 70s you're not as far behind me as you like to make out x

As you know I'm an airforce brat - best of the services IMO
That's why I find Answerbank so addictive. Sharp minds, interesting and witty conversation.

This thread is clearly the exception.....

Woody don't be such a helmet! This sarted as a genuine techie question and i still don't really know the answer.
Quite .. Prudie ...

There is always the odd helmet kicking about.
Anyway, hardly the interest and wittiness in your question posts, are there? eh?
