What version of iTunes are you using?
Click iTunes in the iTunes on your iTunes menu then click about iTunes. The new window will give you the version number.
It may be that your version does not give you the dropdown option. Have you tried it with just the tick on Gapless Album?
it's been moved to the options tab after you select get info.

i have itunes 9.1 version
yes i have ticked the gapless box,the album has been imported but the tracks are all separate and not as one.
as i do not want to shuffle the album on my ipod i just want it as one full gapless album.
shall i uninstall the 9.1 version and download an earlier version maybe i tunes 7
9.1 is fine. Don't change it.
Just to check the order you did things: You should import the CD, then select all the tracks, go through the Get info instructions and tick gapless album, click OK to close the window. That should do it

no luck milvus
why is there no pop up menu were the gapless album is.
i have gone onto i tunes help and that also says press yes but no yes pops up????
i am baffled
Are you sure you are selecting (highlighting) all the tracks in the album. Click first track. shift click last track) All tracks should then be highlighted.
If you only select one track in the album no dropdown appears, it says instead, "Part of Gapless Album" instead of "Gapless Album"

milvus tried all that in the options box all i get is a box were you tick `gapless album`.
all the tracks are highlighted and ticked are you sure that you dont have to register with i tunes.
as i am not,i may try i tunes 7
I found this on the web but haven't tried it:

''iTunes and iPod add slight breaks of silence between tracks by default. To get rid of the break between tracks try this:

You can tell iTunes, only on import, that certain tracks are supposed to run into each other. It then will import them to play as one continuous, gapless track. It is easy to do but hidden.

Highlight the tracks which you wish to play 'as one'.

Now go to Advanced > Join CD Tracks. You'll see they now have just one blue "play" checkmark for the lot and be linked together on your screen with a little vertical line.

For classical music it's easy to identify which pieces belong to each other because they are called out as movements.

Popular music usually requires you to audition the transitions between tracks and join them accordingly. Pink Floyd's Division Bell runs together tracks 1 - 5, 7 - 9 and 10 - 11. Tracks 6 and 9 are independent.

Once imported these tracks now appear as 5 tracks instead of 11. Each song is now named as a concatenation of the songs inside. Instead of three songs with name of Song One, Song Two and Song Three, you'll have one song names "Song One - Song Two - Song Three." This is fine for the classics, but darned if I know how to cue to any particular movement or song inside one of these. The Track Number field in iTunes shows the correct track number that correlates to the first of each series. You'll see the other track numbers not listed.''
