My Goodmans Freeview Box switches itself off and changes channels itself. Could this be an aerial related problem as I am only using a normal aerial at the moment.

Thanks for any advice

Maybe a problem with the box. Take it back and exchange it for a new one.
A Freeview box will work best with t digital arial. Ours works fine on the ITV channels, but the BBC channels stop and freeze constantly. The installer advised getting a digital arial which will fix the problem.
Your next door neighbour has bought the same set top box as you and is pointing his remote control in your front window, changing channels, turning it on and off & just generally messing around with it to wind you up.
It seems to be working.

It's in my upstairs bedroom so that rules out my neighbour...lol

There have been known issues with certain models of Goodmans Freeview receivers. Some of these have been addressed via a OTA (Over The Air) upgrade to the firmare. A useful forum for more information can be found at ;
