use OpenOffice instead, it's free
I have OpenOffice and find it remarkably good considering it's free. It has a familiarity about it if you are used to using Word.
WordPad that comes free with Windows is a very simple but effective word processor.

Find it under Start > Programs > Accessories

thanx both of yous.
i´m downloading it now. it takes about an hour
That is why I recommend WordPad. Most people would never use most of the capability of Word or its Open Office counterpart. Much less the spreadsheet and database.
wordpad is a text editor and so doesn't have most of the features that a word processor provides.
