antenna to enhance wireless signals

i have a wireless dongle, but sometimes can't get a very good signal, and sometimes when i try to find an open public network the signal is bad too

is there an antenna i can buy to boost this? one that plugs into USB port.

i found this on ebay...is this the right sort of thing ?
