Firefox multiple sites

At one time I got nine mini web pages on the screen, which I could click on and go straight to the site. I found this to be really handy but can no longer do it and have no idea how it happened in the first place.
I would be grateful for an answer in simple terms if that is possible.

Click on the tools menu, select add-ons, make sure you are on the "gat add-ons" tab, enter "speed dial" in the search box and install the speed dial add-on.

I'm sure I've seen this question before... If not then I'm going crazy.

It seems to be in computers too, not unusual for people to post the same question in multiple places, slightly annoying as it can end up with two people taking time to reply and just doubling up what has already been said.
