No sound DVD player

Just attached my sisters DVD player to my television and i can get picture but no sound. anybody know whats going on with that. its not connected with the original scart lead but i thought they were universal.?!

You've probably checked this already but last time this happened to me, the scart lead wasn't quite in the back of the tv properly.

Some SCART leads do not have all pins connected through. Although I can't think of a reason why a SCART lead would be manufactured with only pins to provide the video output and no audio. Try another SCART lead with all pins connected - they are not all universal.
